Wow, I can't believe it's been nearly six months since I last made a post. It's been a busy, busy half year full of new beginnings - a happy 2012 indeed! We found the adage, “third time’s (offer’s) a charm” to be true on our recent home purchase. Lots of new responsibilities as home owners – and we’ve been reminded of what WONDERFUL and GENEROUS family we have – helping us paint, repair, clean and spiff up our new place in no time at all. After a wide search for just the right abode across the greater Seattle area we found our perfect place – a storybook Tudor just a few blocks from Lake Washington and downtown Kirkland.
It’s full of charming details, lots of light and space to grow. We love our new town too. Parks galore, tons of new walking routes, views of the water every day on our way to work, great neighbors, a 4th of July town parade, concerts in the park, local restaurants, coffee shops and more for exploring and a community event – from art to car shows – every other weekend!
Not to totally sugar coat it, there’s more work too! Cleaning, weeding … lots of weeding and clearing out of the overgrown “blackberry jungle” as I like to call it. But we realize we’re not going to have immediate gratification. I’m dreaming of – and planning – our “one day” yard with room for outdoor entertaining, bocce ball on the grass and fresh-growing herbs in the garden.

Looking forward to posting more about our adventures – recent and upcoming. Next up, I’m planning to share from some of our favorite travels! I’m feeling a need to live vicariously through a few of our recent “before we bought a house” vacations.
